Seven Inches of Snow Comes Way Too Early

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Like it or not the Williston area received some seven inches of snow as an early storm worked its way across the border and made things rather interesting over the weekend.

While it was forecast, everybody had hoped the white stuff would go another direction.

Other locations received more than a foot of the early blast.

Overall folks were happy with the moisture and warmer temperatures have made conditions improve rapidly.

Hunters are also looking for temps to warm up a bit, along with farmers who work to get the final chores done.

Meanwhile, homeowners will have to use the warning and get yard work completed.

Stay tuned.

Eldon Johnson Wins Colgate State Final

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Rack up another big win for Williston native Eldon Johnson as he emerged as the winner of the Colgate Country Showdown held on Saturday night at the Four Bears Casino.

Ross Carpenter of KEYZ 660 AM in Williston served as the host for the evening that also saw KEYZ local representative Tina Flesness turn in a strong performance.

Johnson picked up the state crown along with $1,000 at the 27th annual state final.

He currently resides in Fargo and was representing KXPO of Grafton in the competition.

His next stop is Flandreau, S.D. where on Oct. 25 he will be involved in the Midwest Regional at the Royal River Casino & Hotel.

That puts him one step away from a return trip to Nashville.

We send out a Scope Salute and congratulations on a job well done.

Check back as we will continue to follow his progress.

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Recently we chatted with Andrea Winkjer Collin live and direct from the Norsk Hostfest in Minot.

Collin, a Williston native, discussed a new project that she and her husband Rick recently unveiled.

We were unable to talk with award-winning author Lauraine Snelling, however, we managed to chat with her as she paused from a busy day at the Hosfest

You can tune in to each Friday on KEYZ 660 AM at 4:45 p.m. to learn more about what’s happening.

This past week we discussed National White Cane Day with Janelle Olson of Williston.

The National White Cane Safety Dayd is set for Wednesday (Oct. 15) and awareness of this special event is very important.

This week (Oct. 17) we will have an opportunity to chat with “Mr. Hostfest,” Chester Reiten.

Chester will provide some great insight and report on the record attendance and plans in the works for 2009.

See you on the radio.
