Spring Had to Come Sooner or Later - It’s Here!

Monday, March 16th, 2009

It just goes to show you, if you wait long enough good things happen.

Well folks, after a very long winter, Mother Nature has finally given in and some warmer temperatures have brought out a lot of smiles.

Just the fact to be able to get out of the house and open a window or two makes all the difference.

This is shaping up to be a busy week in Williston and the balmy weather comes just at the right time.

Now with the temperatures reaching near 50 degrees above the zero mark, we can go out and enjoy.

The only lesson to be learned is don’t wash your car, or you will just have to do it again.

Oh well, some lessons need to be what they are.

Winter Blast Avoids The Williston Area

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

No doubt a lot of folks in western North Dakota are happy that Mother Nature opted to leave us without any more white stuff during the last flurry.

Hey, we must be living right?

However, the same can’t be said for the eastern part of the state as more than 6 inches of snow fell, only adding to the problems.

That will also add to the concern of spring flooding.

Now, with the forecast indicating much warmer temperatures, there just might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay tuned.

Plans For Spring Can Be Put On Hold

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

With Mother Nature messing things up any plans we have for spring appear to be put on hold.

Even though we have had some decent temperatures over the past few days, the forecast calls for a dip into the icebox for at least a couple days this week.

Brrrrrrr……is the best way to put it.

With the calendar calling for the first day of spring later this month we can only hope that holds to be true.

For now, all we can do is sit back, think spring and enjoy the Major League Baseball teams as they go through the motions in warm climates.

Eventually we will get a break in the weather.

But, until that time, grin and bear it by keeping the shovels handy.

Daylight Saving Time is Scheduled For March 8

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Ready or not, the month of March has arrived.

With it comes Daylight Saving Time as the clocks will be turned ahead one hour as early as March 8.

The change to the earlier time will allow for some extra sunlight which might help to melt some of the many inches of snow remaining.

Usually early March is a time we are looking forward to a change of season with spring just around the corner.

Well folks, it might be a long corner unless we get some very warm temperatures.

Then again, we sure don’t want the heat turned on at once as this could lead to some bad news for homeowners.

While the extra mositure is welcome, the potential for flooding and seepage is not something folks are looking forward to deal with.

For now all we can do is leave it in the hands of Mother Nature and go with the flow.

Meanwhile, you can be thinking spring as the Minnesota Twins compete in baseball games in the sunshine of Florida.

So far, so good for the Twins and that sure is good news.
