Trek to DC for WWII Veterans Becomes a Reality

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

For many the talk of being able to make the trek to Washington DC to view the National World War II Memorial is upon us.

The Scope has the distinct honor to accompany some 30 WWII vets from western North Dakota as they travel to Bismarck by chartered bus provided by the Williston State College Foundation and WSC.

From a stop in Bismarck the veterans. along with escorts and media will fly off to our nation’s capital on Friday.

A number of events are planned in conjunction with the trip, leading up to the grand finale on Saturday morning with a visit to the memorial that was built in their honor.

This my friends will be an adventure of a lifetime.

Join us as we make the trek and provide you with word and pictures.

All aboard……

Roughrider Honor Flight; Rawling Brothers at VSPC Sept. 29

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Two big events are on the calendar for the month of September.

We’re especially excited about the upcoming Roughrider Honor Flight set for departure from Bismarck to Washington DC on Sept. 18.

A group of some 30 veterans from our area will hop aboard the WSC Teton express and bus to Bismarck on Sept. 17 for the early departure.

That will allow the group from here to join up with approximatley 60 additional WWII veterans from the western part of the state.

We have the pleasure of tagging along with the group and you can look and listen for reports.

Plans call for reports to be aired on KEYZ 660 along with a report and photos in the Williston Herald.

In addition we will be sharing on this site along with additional photos to be posted.

Check back for complete details.

CONCERT AT VSPC ON SEPTEMBER 29

We can also tell you the Virgil Syverson Performance Center will offer yet another outdoor concert before Mother Nature does her thing.

Plan now to be on hand at 6 p.m. on Sept. 29 (Tuesday) as the Rawling Brothers will be in concert.

Watch for details.
