Night of Music returns for 5th year

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Hey folks…Night of Music is back for the fifth season on April 8 at the Airport International Inn Courtyard.

This has proved to be a night full of continuous music.

This year The Swing Band of Minot will be the featured group to go along with 8 groups and more than 150 musicians.

Now how can you beat that.

Well folks, to top that the price of admission is simply free-will.

Now that is definitely a deal.

Williston State College will be well represented with Herb Parker Jr. at the helm.

Chad Askim and Eric Rooke will be on hand, along with Brian Salveson.

Bethany Olson is in her first year directing the WSC City Band.

Make plans now to be on hand with proceeds to benefit outdoor concerts at the Virgil Syverson Performance Center.

Winter doesn’t want to go away

Friday, March 25th, 2011

It was once said “Rain, Rain go away” …..something about Little Johnnie wants to “play”…

Well — A lot of names can be inserted there, including Big Tom who wants some sunshine….

I think we speak for a lot of people who are itching to get out and explore…….

Winter has a firm grip on this part of the country and we will just have to ride it out…

Otherwise plan to take in a number of indoor activities…

Next up mark down April 8 for the 5th annual Night of Music…..Everything begins at 6 p.m.

Special guests this year are the Swing Band from Minot….Should be lots of fun…..

March 21 is fast approaching; Spring is slow to come

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

While March 21 is listed on the calendar as the first official day of Spring, it sure doesn’t look like that will happen around here.

North Dakota was hit hard with the flaky white stuff this year as Mother Nature unleashed more than 80 inches of snow on the Williston area.

Now attention in the eastern part of the state has everyone worried about another flood.

A number of areas have concern over too much moisture, which can lead to many problems.

One thing about it, folks are more than ready to get outdoors.

Cabin fever is running very high and folks would like to see a drastic change in the temperature.

One thing, we can’t wish for too much, too fast as that would only add to the other problems.

We will just have to sit tight and handle whatever is dished out.

In the meantime, the calendar will unfold day by day and all the forecasts in the world are suspect.

Best thing to do is make your plans for a summer vacation and get out and enjoy the elements.

Once there is a change in the weather of course.
